In Sri Lanka The scouting movement was started in 1912. Since then the scout movement in Sri lanka have produced a large no of Queens & and Presidents scout. ion. There is a saying among scouts that is ‘once a scout is always a scout’. Because of that, like in the other countries then Chief Commissioner and the Queen’s Scout Mr. K. H Camillus Fernando had formed a Guild to bring all Queens & Presidents scouts who are won the highest in Sri lanka in to one roof .
Guild was formed in 2001 February 22nd by the 21 founder members with the three prime objectives, the first idea was to develop brotherhood and to encourage ,forester and promote close relations amongst the kings Queen’s and present President’s scouts in Sri Lanka and any other country wishing to join. Secondly to assist and support the up liftman of Sri Lanka Scout Movement and World scout movement, Thirdly ,to assist in training training of senior scouts to win the President scout awarded and encourage members of the guild to take interest to train and program for this purpose.
Membership is open to those who have obtained the kings’ scout award or Queens scout award or President scout award in Sri Lanka. At present Guild have over 125 life members and equal no of general members.
This year our Guild is celebrating its 9th year in services. This year AGM of the will be held on 1st August ’09 at Nalanda Collage. On the same day we have organized a ceremony to felicitate the top achievers and war heroes who have excelled in recently concluded war against terrorism.
Our members are currently serving in all three armed and polices services as well in the governments, private an non governmental sectors and as a university students During this 9 year period d Guild had organized number of family get together , hicks , media and religious , and leadership developments programes. Also we have worked with the number of similar associations like Girl guides, Red Cross society, Twins club university federations District Scout branches, etc..
In the next financial year of the Guild , we intended to launch a job bank for young President scouts and we invite private and non governmental sector organizations to contact Guild job bank to find confident reliable self motivated real leaders who have under went over 7-8 year leadership training programs.
